Dentro il contemporaneo | Corpi oltre le sbarre – workshop and CHORA video screening

  • MAD Murate Art District, Firenze Piazza delle Murate, Firenze Italy (map)

Starting from CHORA – A Site-specific videodance between body and territory, the site-specific dance film by Sofia Nappi and KOMOCO in collaboration with filmmaker Maxim Derevianko, the event proposes a journey through past, present, and future within one of the locations that hosted the project’s filming: the former high-security prison, Le Murate. The event, therefore, will not just be a screening, but a progressive experience of approaching the film. It will open with a movement workshop of about an hour led by Sofia Nappi, intended for people without dance experience, dedicated to guiding participants towards a deeper perception of their own body, breath, and the surrounding space. Following this, participants will walk through the spaces of the former high-security prison, Le Murate. The visit thus becomes an opportunity to observe how our perception of a place changes when we do not merely traverse it with our gaze, but with greater bodily awareness. The journey will culminate in the screening of CHORA: the place just visited will return to the screen, transformed and recounted by the encounter between body, choreography, and video. The evening will conclude with an open dialogue with Sofia Nappi, co-authors and guests, to share the creative process with the public and reflect on the relationship between body, memory, space, and new languages.
