KC Mission.

“Dance is for everybody. I believe that the dance came from the people and that it should always be delivered back to the people.”

— ALVIN AILEY.

KOMOCO is an Italian based Dance Company that was firstly initiated by the collaboration between two sisters who shared the passion in art: Sofia Nappi, choreographer and performer, and Alice Nappi, violinist and composer. Currently KOMOCO has quickly grown into playing a relevant role in the international contemporary dance scene and it ‘s directed by Sofia Nappi, together with her closest collaborators & associates Paolo Piancastelli and Adriano Popolo Rubbio.

The name KOMOCO is a combination of the Japanese word "Komorebi", which refers to the rays of the sun that filter through the leaves of the trees creating a dance of light, and “Collab”, as we strongly believe in co-creation within the different art forms and the artists.

KOMOCO choreographic research is deeply rooted in the exploration of the human experience, seeking to reconnect individuals with their body and therefore their innate essence—an aspect of themselves often forgotten in the chaos and fast-pace of modern life. KOMOCO cultivates a movement language that transcends physicality, fostering a visceral, emotional, and sensorial connection between body and its life force, performer and audience.

At the core of KOMOCO artistic practice is the Kreaturistic Character (KC) approach, which invites dancers to rediscover their primal, instinctive selves in a total way. This method then unlocks a profound awareness of one’s artistic individuality, allowing movement and story telling to flow as a "stream of subconsciousness", ranging from expansive and high volume of expression to the most delicate nuances.

For us dance is more than a performative act—it is a shared human experience. The work blurs the boundaries between dance, theater, and performance art, creating raw, unpredictable, and deeply human performances. KC dancers channel vulnerability, conflict, and intimacy, forging an authentic connection between body to body, soul to soul, story to story, and experience to experience.

Ultimately, as for us dance belongs to the body, to the people, it’s the form expression of the universe, we aspires to bring dance back to the people, fostering a collective journey of reconnection, transformation, and shared storytelling, where movement becomes a bridge between self-awareness and human connection.

"Using the body as our main vessel, we aim to share our research, crafting transformative experiences that connect audiences globally through one of the most primordial art forms of humanity."
